St. Paul's Hospital Foundation raised a record $10.11 million for equipment, research and patient care in 2006/07. Your donations, small or large, make a difference throughout the hospital, funding everything from small initiatives that improve patient care to multi-million dollar capital equipment items and support for research scientists. Last year, thanks to our generous donors, the Foundation was able to:
- Help St. Paul’s Hospital purchase equipment for many different areas of the hospital, including the Heart Centre, the operating room, the Emergency department, the Intensive Care Unit, the Kidney Program, Seniors’ Care, the Laboratory, the Maternity Centre and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Raise more than $2.6 million to enable the Heart Centre to begin work on an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Operating room for minimally invasive and open-heart surgery
- Fund a variety of research initiatives, including award competitions for investigators at the beginning of their research careers, and provide support for researchers in a number of different specialties including kidney, HIV/AIDS, heart, critical care, the iCAPTURE Centre and transplant
- Sustain an “enhanced patient care” fund so that frontline staff throughout the hospital can apply for special funding for initiatives that improve patient care but would be unlikely to receive financial support from any other source
- Provide education grants for nurses
