At 23 years of age, Chelsie Thurlow never thought about dying, let alone her heart stopping at any moment. But that changed in October 2010, when she went into cardiac arrest brought on by a rare viral infection.

“I didn’t listen to all the signs I was given to seek medical help, except for one,” Chelsie recalls. “It wasn’t until I could not pick up Chloe, my 4½ month old baby girl, that I went to the emergency room.”
