RENEWAL OF ST. PAUL’S HOSPITAL

Over the past century, St. Paul’s Hospital has built a proud history of providing inspired care from the heart of downtown Vancouver. Now that the Province of British Columbia has confirmed that the hospital will stay at its current location, we’re preparing for a long future as the site of leading care, research and teaching.

The current renewal process

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation is looking forward to partnering in plans to renew the hospital’s facilities. While redevelopment plans have not been finalized, Providence Health Care (which operates St. Paul’s) has a long-term vision to completely renew the hospital so it can continue to serve BC for many years to come from its current site.

Providence Health Care has embarked on an internal planning process over the next year. The process will culminate in Providence Health Care providing a renewal plan to the Province based on future healthcare and research needs for all British Columbians. A key component of the planned renewal will be a newly constructed, state-of-the-art integrated ambulatory care, research and teaching facility that consolidates diverse clinics in a purpose-built environment, with a focus on outpatient and same-day and short-stay medical and surgical services.

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation will continue to keep our supporters updated on how the renewal plans are proceeding.
